Why the houses close in September

One month a year the rains come, the jungle grows a metre and the houses rest. Here is what happens while you are away.

September is the wettest month on this coast. The afternoons bring storms, the river runs brown and the jungle behind the houses grows faster than anyone can cut it back.

We use the month to paint, to re-thatch the palapas, to service the pools and to send the team on holiday. When the houses open again in October, everything is fresh, and so are they.
