How a negotiation gets scored, attempt after attempt

The rubric for Handling Pricing Objections in Enterprise Sales scores the rep from 1 to 5 on five weighted skills and cites what was said as evidence. It penalizes invented guarantees and commitments beyond the rep's authority, and it does not reward a close at any cost. Giving away 15% when your limit is 10% scores low even if the buyer says yes.

Reps rerun the same buyer until the skill sticks. Each attempt gets its own report card with two strengths, two improvements, and a stronger example response, so a manager can see which skill moved and which did not.

You can write the same kind of rubric for your own methodology, whether that is MEDDPICC, BATNA-based, or your own playbook.

What AI negotiation practice costs per rep

Practice is billed on pooled minutes, not per seat, so the math follows how often reps actually drill.

Team 15 reps
Practice 3 drills a week, 15 minutes each
Minutes used About 2,925 a month
Plan Business: $299 a month, 2,990 pooled minutes, 15 seats
Cost per rep About $20 a month
Cost per drill About $1.50

What external negotiation training costs

One seat at a two-day seminar costs about five months of the Business plan for 15 reps. One coaching hour pays for about 160 fifteen-minute drills. Workshops and coaches teach the framework; AI practice supplies the repetitions between sessions, against a counterpart who pushes back every time.

Frequently asked questions

How is negotiation practice different from general sales coaching?

Negotiation scenarios go deeper into late-stage deal dynamics: pricing pressure, multi-stakeholder alignment, concession frameworks, and anchoring. The AI buyer pushes back on contract terms, questions ROI, and tests your ability to hold value under pressure. It's specifically designed for the moments after 'we're interested' but before 'we're signed.'

Can I practice with my actual pricing and objections?

Yes. Upload your pricing decks, competitive battle cards, and recordings of your toughest negotiation calls. The AI learns your specific objection landscape and creates scenarios that mirror what your reps actually face, not generic pushbacks.

What negotiation frameworks does the platform support?

You can build scorecards around any framework: BATNA, MEDDPICC, Challenger, or your own proprietary methodology. The concept-based scoring evaluates whether the rep demonstrated the underlying principle, not whether they used the exact vocabulary.

Can the AI simulate a multi-stakeholder negotiation?

Yes. Specialty roleplay mode lets you simulate buying committees where different stakeholders have different priorities. The CFO cares about price, the champion cares about adoption, the legal team cares about contract terms. Practice navigating the room simultaneously.

Does the AI give feedback on negotiation tactics specifically?

Yes. Post-session feedback includes analysis of whether you anchored effectively, how you responded to price pressure, whether you traded concessions strategically vs. giving them away, and how your tone and pacing changed when challenged.

Can procurement teams practice supplier negotiations?

Yes. In Supplier Capacity Crunch you are the procurement director: a key supplier can only fill 60% of your Q4 order, and you negotiate delivery timelines, expedite fees, and a backup supplier without damaging the relationship. In Thomas Hartmann you sit on the other side of the table and sell a 12% price increase to a procurement head whose board caps increases at 5%. Scenario Studio builds your own supplier situations from your contracts and cost data.

Can reps practice the same negotiation more than once?

Yes, and that is the point. Reps rerun a scenario as many times as they want before the real call, and each attempt gets its own report card, so managers see scores move from one attempt to the next. The AI remembers what a rep struggled with last time and keeps pressing on it. Some scenarios, like Handling Pricing Objections in Enterprise Sales, end with a targeted retry of the weakest moment.

What does AI negotiation practice cost compared with external coaching?

A 15-minute negotiation drill uses 15 minutes of practice time. On the Business plan ($299 a month for 2,990 pooled minutes and 15 seats) that is about $1.50 per drill, and 15 reps can run three drills a week each inside the plan. Enterprise bills usage at $0.07 a minute. For comparison, the Karrass two-day Effective Negotiating seminar lists at $1,489 per person, and the ICF's 2023 Global Coaching Study put the average one-hour coaching session at $244. Workshops and coaches teach the framework; AI practice supplies the repetitions between them.

How does Tough Tongue AI compare with other AI negotiation simulators?

Hyperbound and Second Nature focus on sales conversations such as discovery and objections, Yoodli covers negotiation inside broader sales roleplays, and Edge Negotiation's Deal/Spar reinforces Edge's own workshops. Tough Tongue AI runs named negotiation scenarios for sales reps, procurement, and managers, in the browser, inside Google Meet or Zoom, or by phone, scores every attempt against a rubric you write, and publishes team pricing with a free trial.

"At Idyll, we've been using Tough Tongue AI consistently for sales training and client presentations. The audio quality and minimal latency make the practice sessions feel incredibly realistic."
