About
Samuel leads Thornhill's Hong Kong office and sits on the firm's Leadership Team, with responsibility for the firm's strategy across its Asian client base. He opened the Hong Kong office in 2016 and has overseen its growth into a full-service practice spanning Private Capital, Private Wealth, M&A and Disputes. Before relocating to Hong Kong, Samuel practised in London for over a decade, advising international families and family offices on cross-border wealth structuring, work he has continued to build on since his move, including advising a multi-family office on the establishment of a regional investment platform, a family business on a multi-year succession plan spanning three jurisdictions, and an entrepreneur on tax-efficient structuring ahead of the sale of a regional business.
Samuel advises private capital managers and family offices on cross-border structuring, and has been closely involved in building the firm's Private Wealth practice across the region. He is a frequent speaker on family governance and succession planning at industry conferences across Asia, and works closely with colleagues in the firm's London and New York offices on matters that span multiple jurisdictions.
Samuel holds an LL.B. from the University of Hong Kong and was admitted in Hong Kong in 2005 and in England and Wales in 2007. He is a member of the Law Society of Hong Kong and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
